We're smack dab in the middle of Radio 1190's Spring 2009 pledge drive. Twice a year we take 10 days to ask you, our loyal listeners, to help contribute to the AM Revolution. We're raising $50,000 to pay for the expenses of running a radio station so we can bring you the fantastic programming you've come to expect from Radio 1190. All we ask for is enough to keep the station in one piece. Once we reach it, we're done. We're not greedy. In fact, we're making it worth your while. We're also giving out tons of great concert tickets, gift cards, CD packages, along with custom 1190 T-shirts, hoodies and stickers. Call in this Tuesday during Culture Clash to get my sweet international music mix CD. The number is 303-735-ROCK, or 303-735-7625. You can also donate online at www.radio1190.org. We need your support to keep the music flowing, and the independent spirit alive and well.
See ya tomorrow night,
~Rev. Adam
It's spring break. I'm outta town. But here's the video for Royksopp's first single off their brand new album, Junior. It's "Happy Up There".
Happy Spring!
We just got the self-titled debut from Fever Ray. Fever Ray is the solo project from Karin Dreijer Andersson, one half of the sibling Swedish electro-gods, The Knife. The Knife took a break after 2006’s Silent Shout, so Karin had a second child and “eight months of the most productive daydreaming” to come up with the gem. It’s fundamentally similar to The Knife’s dark electronic sound, yet distinctly intense and anxious, with songs like “When I Grow Up” and “I’m Not Done”. If feels like you’re wading through a dim musical mist. Her voice is unmistakable and haunting. If you are ever visited by a Swedish ghost in the dead of night, it will sound like this. Don’t listen to this alone in a dark room unless you prepare yourself. The album was released on Rabid Records in Sweden, which she co-owns with her brother. Out on Mute Records in the U.S. It hits stores March 24th, although online downloads are available now.
This is the 2nd single, "When I Grow Up". Make sure to tune in tomorrow for a fresh cut off the album.
Tune in to tomorrow's Culture Clash for a chance to win tickets to TWO great shows! I have tickets for Cut Off Your Hands, who are playing this Saturday at the Hi-Dive in Denver.
Additionally, we just today got tickets for Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who are playing this Wednesday at the Boulder Theater.
Make sure to listen for your chance to win tickets to these shows!

We all know the South by Southwest music festival is coming up soon, March 13-22 in Austin, Texas. I found a great batch of podcasts showcasing international artists at SXSW since 2005. Check em out here. They're gonna keep adding performances from last year up until this year's festival begins. It's a fantastic primer for the festival and a great introduction to some world artists.
Playlists are up! And working! You can now download shows again.

So, the file upload thing is on the fritz. I've contacted the site admin in hopes of fixing it. I know nothing about web design. I can't say when, but it will be fixed. If you wanna check out playlists sans MP3s of the show, you can check out the Culture Clash Myspace here, or find the Culture Clash facebook group here.
Additionally, if you wanna check out the bands Culture Clash is presenting (read below post to see them), check out Cut Off Your Hands and Efterklang.
Cheers,
~Rev. Adam
We've got 2 great international bands coming to Denver that Culture Clash is presenting!
Cut Off Your Hands is coming to the Hi-Dive in Sunday, March 8th. Indie pop out of New Zealand. It's a 16+ show, which is pretty rare for the Hi-Dive.
Danish folktronic stars Efterklang will be at the Larimer Lounge on March 14th. It's a 21+ show, so apologies to the young crowd (myself included).
Make sure to tune in to Culture Clash for your chance to win tickets to these shows!
The stupid site hasn't been working well on some Windows PCs. But all should be well now.
Next Monday, February 7, is an all vinyl day at Radio 1190! We're not afraid to show off the classics. From 10am to 8pm, we're spinning old school records exclusively on the AM revolution. Make sure you tune in. I'll be playing from 7-8pm, and I'll make sure to bring some of the best international flavor on wax
